A small Mexican tillandsia, with rather varying forms over its relatively large geographic and altitudinal range between 1600 and 3500 meters. (Ehlers, 1989).
It is said to need lower night temperatures, in the 8 to 10oC range. We have two plants imported from USA - both look exactly the same, but one flowered in mid summer and AB487 has just flowered in mid winter.
Closely related to Tillandsia erubescens and Tillandsia andrieuxii.
