A white-flowered form, from Mexico, introduced into cultivation in 1984. The plants look like a standard Tillandsia ionantha until they flower, when the plant takes on a yellow color (see Pamela Koide, 1993)

A small form, from Mexico. The outer leaves have a distinctly orange color during flowering.

General notes

Widely grown tillandsia, popular for its compact form and habit of coloring up brilliantly when it comes into flower. Comes from Mexico, Guatemala and Nicaragua and grows on deciduous trees and rocks from 600 to 1650 meters.
