Grown from seed labelled "Tillandsia rectiflora." The plant flowers every year, and is self-fertile.
From seed sown in 1994, as of April 2001 the plants are around 8-10cm. long.
Not fussy whether it grows epiphytically, on rocks, or lying on the ground. Found in Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela between 500 and 3,200 meters. Local name "Huicundo"
It likes bright light, but is susceptible to drying out if put in a hot dry airspace (Isley, 1987 page61)
