From seed resulting from a cross between forms 'Major' and 'Minor,' sown in 1995. As of April 2001 the seedlings are around 5cm. diameter and 2cm. high.

General notes

Another very hardy tillandsia, in the group with T. aeranthos and T. tenuifolia. The different forms "major" and "minor" are not officially recognized, but are useful for gardeners. The "major" type grows in loose long-stemmed strands (it is caulescent) whereas the "minor" type has only a short stem and grows into tight ball-shaped clumps. Has blue and white flowers, with distinctive wavy-edged petals.

From Venezuela, in mountains south of Buenos Aires on remote, steep rocks in full sun and dry conditions ( Padilla 1973).
